Music and Movement

This program is being introduced in coordination with dance teacher, Kim Agnew who is also a music teacher at Head Royce School. We have always admired Kim’s choreography at different occasions especially with her work on teaching movement to preschoolers. In short, she brings music to Life and put words into action.

Biography:

Instructor Kim Agnew, multi-disciplined dancer, choreographer and dance educator teaching all over the greater Bay Area including: dance and music outreach with the San Francisco Ballet, Head Royce School, over a decade of summers with Marin Ballet and Cazadero Family Camp to name a few. Kim also had the pleasure of Choreographing for Nueva School’s (Burlingame) participation in SF Carnival, subsequently helping to secure the award : “Best Overall” for 2008.

Kim Agnew has a B.A. in Fine Arts with emphasis in metalsmithing and sculpture, to complement a lifetime of dance studies with Master teachers from all over the world. Her studies have included, but not limited to, Modern, West African, Samba, Salsa and Afro-Cuban Folklore. She has dedicated her life to dance, multi-media art, music, performance and educating children with the guidance of her master teachers and mentors. After college and extensive musical touring, she moved to Oakland and has been teaching art and dance in the greater Bay Area, preschool through adult, public and private, since 1996. Kim believes in the positive power of creativity and encourages her students to explore, create, enjoy, collaborate and get to know themselves, express themselves and love themselves through dance, art and music.
